Hey gang. Night shifts coming up... Help? ;)

In the way of legal insanity, we have Lethbridge, Alberta, alderwoman Darlene Heatherington! Last year, while on "city business" in Great Falls, Montana, she disappeared and was reported missing by her husband. She was found in Las Vegas having a fling, but insisted she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted. The police filed a public mischief charge against her, which she denied. (Original story from CBC.ca)

Apparently, once she was home she decided to invent herself a stalker. The only problems with the whole thing were leaving copies of some of the letters on her Palm Pilot and her computer, researching stalking at the local public library, and copying some of the material from her research directly into the letters. (Articles in the Globe and Mail, Billings Gazette [Montana], and a timeline of the whole thing from CBC.ca)

Once again people, if you're going to commit a crime, don't be stupid. Or in this case, get yourself a shrink and avoid being a criminal altogether.

King James IV banned golf from Scotland in 1491 for the simple noble reason that "it looketh like a silly game."
Later the king took up the game, and the law was changed so that golf was banned only on the Sabbath during the "tyme of sermons."

Mark Twain, who was about as smart as Americans get, had the chance to invest his money in Alexander Graham Bell's new telephone company. He turned down the offer and sunk his money in a new kind of typesetting machine. That company lost everything and declared bankruptcy.

The tasty, sweet crust of that Black Forest ham comes from caramel. Unless you're in Canada, where meat processors received government permission to replace the expensive caramel coating with rust. Rust, the experts say, is cheaper, sticks to the ham better than caramel, and is safe for human consumption.

From a 1930 ad for Drano liquid cleaner: "I can feel his eyes accusing me every time the bathroom drains slow up. He'd look at me as much to say, 'Your fault!' And it was."

Ethereal dancer Isadora Duncan made Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw a proposition that sounded good on the face of it: that they have a baby together. "With my body and your brains," she said, "what a wonder it would be."
Shaw turned Isadora down, explaining, "But what if it had my body and your brains?"

"antique firearm" means
(a) any firearm manufactured before 1898 that was not designed to discharge rim-fire or centre-fire ammunition and that has not been redesigned to discharge such ammunition, or

(b) any firearm that is prescribed to be an antique firearm;

I believe the operative word is, D'uh!
